sho, first of all, thank you for sympathizing with me. i don't know how you do it, but everytime you say something... it doesn't really come out as a "typical advice" but it's always right on target. and thank you for saying that you're also alone in coffeeshops, reading or writing. made me feel less alone. now, everytime i go for a coffee alone, i'll always think of you.
secondly, I FINISHED READING THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS! omg omg omg... this is the best suspense/mystery (can you call it that?) novel i've ever read. thomas harris just kicked dan brown's butt. da vinci code and angels and demons? pffft. they're nothing compared to this one.
clarice starling was one heck of an agent. and to think that she was still a student when she solved the buffalo bill case. jame gumb really scared me esp nearing the end, i was sure he was gonna kill clarice. catherine martin was smart to kidnap the dog. and dr lecter... one of the smartest, most mysterious, complex, compelling characters ever written. my most favourite part of the book was his last talk with clarice. when he found out about the screaming lambs. all throughout the whole chapter, i was holding my breath. the dialogue was beautifully written. it was flowing so naturally that i felt i was there. although, after that dr lecter ate somebody's face, i almost dropped the book at that part. that's the only thing that's keepin me from wanting to meet dr lecter in the future. hehehe. and to think that the book was written in 1988? not sure, round that time. i'm starting to read hannibal. did you read it as well? i'm on the first few chapters and clarice is already called "special agent clarice starling." cool eh? wait, do you think jack crawford had a crush on clarice? and yea, i have to say, the idea of butterfly/moth with a human skull naturally designed on its back was just a wicked idea! i loved it. i love harris' imagination. this book made me excited of psychology - i signed up for psychology programs in the university of toronto. oh btw, i haven't gotten any acceptance letters yet. but it's still early. i'm still crossing my fingers.
aight, when i get back, we'll have coffee together. my treat. regardless if i win the bet or not.
